“I was taught by Anne Tedesco for six years; they easily were the most important years for my development and maturation as a piano player. Unquestionably, Anne can deftly teach a sound technical base. However, that is not the end goal. Instead, Anne guided me to utilize the technical base to bring out the phrases and nuanced emotions within the works of great classical composers. The hours of instruction were fruitful, and I was rewarded, through various competitions, with opportunities to perform at Queen’s College, Staller Center, Steinway Gallery, and Bruno Walter Auditorium in Lincoln Center.”

“Anne Tedesco is the piano instructor for all our three children, Where we were looking for a piano teacher for our first child, Anne was recommended by the director of the music department of the school. My son has learned how to appreciate the beauty of music and develop the piano skills from her training and influence. My son has participated in every level of NYSSMA solo and earned excellent scores. While Anne is a “demanding” teacher who expects students to work hard, Anne also provides a friendly and supportive learning environment and gives room to every student for individual growth and development. When our two younger children were ready for piano training, we brought them to Anne without second thought. Anne’s own passion towards music, excellent skills, expertise in training young people and professionalism are the reason we are very happy to have her to be our children’s piano teacher!”

“Throughout my years of lessons with Anne Tedesco, I was offered crucial constructive advice on how to improve my technique and broaden my musicality- guidance that made a difference then and will continue to make a difference in my future playing. Anne also promoted to me the benefits of NYSSMA and offered many opportunities for me to share my talents with others. Although I had a major issue with stage fright. Anne consistently but sensitively encouraged me to make public performances, and I truly attribute my current lack of performance fear to Anne and her lessons.”

Eight years ago, I had stumbled upon a YouTube video of Valentina Lisitsa playing Rachmaninoff Prelude in G minor. I had fallen in love with the piece so deeply, that I actually obtained the sheet music for the piece in hopes of being able to learn it. Unfortunately, after several unsuccessful attempts, I got discouraged and gave up. A year later, going into my sophomore year at St. John's University (as a pharmacy major), I decided to give piano another try.

This is how I met Professor Tedesco. After completing several Chopin pieces and the first movement of Bach’s Italian Concerto, I finally gathered the courage and shared with Professor Tedesco my desire to learn the Rachmaninoff Prelude in G minor. I am proud to say that, after months of hard work, and Professor Tedesco's guidance and patience, I had successfully learned the Prelude. It was then that Professor Tedesco suggested that I audition the piece with Concert Festival for their 2016 event; I got second place and played the Rachmaninoff Prelude in G minor at Symphony Space.

I have been with Professor Tedesco for 7 years (and counting!) During my time studying with Professor Tedesco, I have been awarded several concerts in New York City at Baruch Performing Arts Center and Symphony Space by placing high in competitive auditions through Concert Festival. Moreover, when I was taking piano lessons with Professor Tedesco at St. John's University, I (amongst handful of Professor Tedesco’s students) was presented with numerous opportunities to perform the pieces we had worked on at various Performing Arts events hosted at the University.

Frankly, the term 'Professor' does not even begin to describe how amazing and wonderful she is in sharing her expertise and knowledge of piano with those aspiring to learn. In my eyes, 'Professor' Tedesco will always be a respected pedagogue.

P.S. Please feel free to check out a recording of my performance at Symphony Space (playing the Rachmaninoff Prelude in G minor), and witness Professor Tedesco’s teaching talent firsthand!
